Hope’s way
Hope gets around without sight, by sound and scent. This site is built so that everyone can find their way around it too, however they browse.
Move your pointer around Hope, or tap near her: she’ll turn her ears towards you. She never needs to see you to know you’re there.
How this site works for everyone
Calm mode
A quieter version of the site, with no movement, larger text and less decoration. It switches itself on if your device asks for reduced motion, and you can turn it on or off here, or at the foot of any page.
Screen readers
Every page has one main heading, clearly named sections and a link that skips straight to the content. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and Hope is introduced by name wherever she appears.
Keyboard
The first press of Tab offers a link straight to the content, and buttons and forms show clearly where you are. You can even give Hope a stroke: focus her on her page and press Enter.
Gentle movement
Hope moves in short, gentle bursts, then settles, and she only moves while she’s on screen. In Calm mode she stays still.
Checked as we go
Every change to the site is checked automatically for accessibility problems, on a computer and on a phone.
